15 year old "Shay Marie" was born Shannon Marie VanOstrand and while growing up in South Florida, she developed a love for all music genre, but she was raised on Country Music. As a little girl, anywhere her Daddy would take her, he would always make sure he had everyone's undivided attention. Even if he had to stand her up on a counter top or table, and then he'd say "OK now, sing Marie"! Because of this, she became fearless and loved the spotlight. By the age of 7, she began performing in school chorus programs and competed in local talent contests. At the age of 9 she was singing the National Anthem for spring training and minor league baseball games at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, FL. At the age of 10, she faced a huge tragedy that would change her life forever... her Father passed away. For a year, Shannon quit singing, and just put her feelings down on paper. When she started singing again, she discovered in her music a new way to cope with her feelings of hurt and loss, and she hasn't stopped since. At the age of 13 she began performing around her hometown at festivals, fairs and open mic nights, and she has been working hard at her craft ever since. Now 15, Shannon, who goes by "Shay Marie" to honor the memory of her Dad, is now starting to blend her writing and her vocals, and is working on writing songs that she hopes to record in the near future. Currently, Shay is rehearsing and playing with her new band at various venues, throughout the State of Florida. If you have the opportunity to catch one of her shows you will not be disappointed. Her performances are very fun, high energy, and always crowd pleasing. Check here often for information regarding her upcoming shows and events. |
